Petersberg Climate Dialogue 2021

Annual conference on international climate action issues

Since 2010, the Petersberg Climate Dialogue (PCD) has been providing ministers and senior government officials with a meeting platform for an open and constructive exchange of information and ideas on international climate action issues. The conference has always been organised in cooperation with the presidency of the next Climate Change Conference (COP26). This year’s PCD will therefore be co-hosted by the United Kingdom.

The PCD’s high-level ministerial segment will take place on 6 and 7 May 2021. It will focus on preparing COP26 to be held in Glasgow (UK) in November 2021. The meeting will start on 6 May 2021 at 2.00 pm with addresses by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Federal Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel of Germany. Their speeches will be publicly broadcast online.

Virtual satellite events for the general public

This year's PCD will also include a series of additional virtual public satellite events on various climate policy issues.

An overview of the satellite events can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry for the Environment.

At this year's Petersberg Climate Dialogue, key aspects of IKI's global work can be found in the following satellite events:

  • 10 years to restore our planet! The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a rallying call to prevent, halt and reverse ecosystem degradation worldwide
  • Climate Neutrality - From ambition raising to Mission – Zero
  • Green transition for people, nature and climate
