As of: June 2020

Objective and activities

The project is part of the "Development Cooperation Programme for the Protection of Biodiversity and for the Adaptation and Prevention of Climate Change". The project objective is to strengthen the three protected areas in the northern Amazon region (Yasuní, Limoncocha, Cuyabeno) and their areas of influence by involving regional and local actors in management responsibility. In concrete terms, the project promotes the improvement of the management of the three protected areas, their sustainable financing and the introduction of sustainable forms of natural resource use in the project area. This includes the development and implementation strategies for protection, the financing of infrastructure and equipment for park staff and the promotion of local initiatives to create environment friendly income sources. This reduces threats to the three protected areas and improves the living conditions of the people in the project region
