Credit Programme Balkan Green Financing

This project aimed to provide participating partner banks with credit lines for renewable energies and energy efficiency. These loans could be used to finance small-scale renewable energy projects, such as biomass stoves, solar thermal heating, small hydropower plants and geothermal energy. Loans for energy efficiency focused on simple and cost-effective energy efficiency measures with the aim of achieving energy savings of 20% with each investment.
State of implementation/results
Project completed
- Long-term credit lines for measures related to renewable energies and energy efficiency were offered by KfW to local partner banks.
- Funding forwarded to companies and private households by the local banks.
- Loans were used primarily in the transport sector and for investments in agricultural, production and construction machinery.
- Targeted energy savings of at least 20 percent per investment were achieved.
