Energy efficiency in the Tunesian industry

As of: April 2021

The project helped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Tunisian industry by disseminating energy efficient applications. The project promoted the installation of pilot facilities, the training of Tunisian experts and the performance of awareness-raising measures.

State of implementation/results

  • Energy audits have been implemented to increase energy efficiency in two selected companies. Energy monitoring systems are used to check the savings.
  • The focus was on ISO 50001 (energy management systems) with regard to the training of Tunisian specialists and the awareness of other industrial enterprises in the field of energy efficiency in industry.
  • Regarding cogeneration, the project aims at optimizing the use of this technology in Tunisia through inventory surveys, cartography and the development of a central monitoring system. The monitoring allows an optimized use of cogeneration in Tunisia and helps to quantify saved GHG emissions.
