Energy-efficient Extension and Modernisation of Public Transport in Lviv
As of: February 2021
The project has analysed Lviv’s transport situation and forecasted future transport streams for EURO 2012 and beyond. This data was used to draw up recommendations for transport planning and specific investment measures.
State of implementation/results
- Project completed
- Comprehensive, software-based model of the entire urban transport system (individual as well as public transportation) for the city of Lviv has been created (standard instrument for transport planning in Western Europe, but the first of its kind in Eastern Europe); great interest has been expressed by the expert community in Ukraine
- A list of investment measures needed in road construction and public transport (trams and trolleybuses) has been prepared based on this concept; measures have been assessed on the basis of various qualitative and quantitative criteria and prioritised (criteria include anticipated demand, time savings, CO2 reduction, impact on urban development strategies, improvement to transport safety)
- Construction planned for a new tram line to the Sykhiv district, which was until then not connected to the tram network
