GO for SDGs: Enhancing Regional Capacity for Inclusive and Sustainable Economies

As of: October 2021

The new initiative “Global Opportunities for SDGs” (GO for SDGs) was launched by BMU and UNEP at the SDG summit in September. The initiative will decisively advance the global implementation of the 2030 agenda through the establishment of regional “sustainability hubs”, especially with a view to the environment and climate-relevant SDGs. GO for SDGs builds on existing initiatives and programs such as PAGE, GGKP, NDC partnership and the One Planet Network. The focus is on the subject of "sustainable consumption and production". The implementation of the initiative is controlled by UNEP from Nairobi, the regional UNEP offices are used for regional work. In addition, related UN programs and organizations (particularly UNDP and ILO) and regional UN economic commissions as well as other partners such as the uplink initiative of the World Economic Forum and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) included in the implementation.
