Mitigation Momentum I - Bringing a range of supported mitigation activities in selected countries to the next level
As of: January 2021
The project helped governments in five developing countries to further develop their portfolio of proposals for nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs). In addition, it planned specific activities and tapped sources of funding for their implementation. On the basis of numerous case studies, the project also analysed instruments in place with regard to NAMA design, financing and implementation, and published studies on the experience gained, such as the NAMA Annual Status Report. The project helped the partner countries design their NAMAs in a bankable manner and prepare the ground for their implementation. At the same time, the specific features of the mitigation instruments were still under negotiation at the international climate negotiations. This allowed the acquired knowledge to be fed into the international and national processes, driving them forward. The established standards could now serve as models for NAMA projects worldwide.
