NDC Policy Programme

As of: March 2021

Colombia is pursuing its green growth strategy as a set of principles for achieving low-carbon, climate-resilient development and a point of orientation for its NDC. These NDC envisage reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent until 2030 and increasing adaptation to the impacts of climate change. The project supports the coordination of relevant measures by the Ministry of the Environment, and key public and private sector actors. The project is also helping its partners integrate mitigation and adaptation measures into agricultural value creation processes, while helping to improve institutional structures for the implementation of the NDC at the national and subnational level, and contributing to the expansion of the monitoring system. The work of the project not only contributes to the country’s development strategy but is also supporting the peace process in Colombia. Project insights are being used as input for international forums and supporting efforts to make the NDCs more ambitious.
