Promotion of grid-connected renewables in Turkey

Working together with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, and with the Turkish electricity grid and trading companies, the project improved the country’s use of the available renewable energy potential. Strategies and options for grid integration, and improved promotion instruments and the regulatory setting for integration in the electricity market were identified. Training was one focus of the project. The project concept included policy advice with technical assistance and training.

State of implementation/results

Project completed
  • Support of the new established Turkish Institute for Further Education PUSEM to develop and implement training programs related to Renewable Energies
  • Conducting two workshops on grid integration of renewable energy from solar and wind
  • Workshop on wind energy and military air traffic control by radars conducted in June 2014
  • Study tour with representatives of the Department of Energy to participate in the 'Renewable Energy Week' in October 2014 in Berlin
