PtX Pathways: Enabling Long Term Decarbonisation Pathways through PtX

As of: October 2021

The PtX Pathways project supports the development of sustainable hydrogen/PtX markets as building block for the energy transition in Morocco, South Africa and Argentina. Three country components address specific needs and take individual motivations into account. The project supports Ministries of Energy, Environment and/or Research in developing allocation scenarios for hydrogen/PtX products, including the analysis of related value chains. Business cases are identified and recommendations to improve the regulatory framework for embedding PtX are derived. In Morocco, a pilot plant for PtX (e-fuel) with direct air capture is demonstrating the full PtX value chain and paves the way for technology uptake and capacity development. Good practices, tools, methodologies and guidelines from country components are disseminated via the International PtX Hub in Berlin to further countries. Lessons learnt are used to inform the debate in other markets.
