South-South cooperation on climate information and services – development of a platform for knowledge management and joint learning
As of: October 2021
Climate information and services (CIS) and the ability to respond to climate change are essential for building resilient communities and ecosystems. The project therefore facilitates cooperation between stakeholders and the CIS in the Philippines and all over the world. To this end, it is developing a platform for knowledge management and the exchange of learning between the world’s southern hemisphere countries that are particularly affected by climate change. The platform contains quality-tested climate data and information that any interested parties can access, and the project promotes the development of knowledge and resources in national authorities. It also supports academies and local government units and effectively demonstrates the co-benefits of mitigation measures, nationally-determined contributions and nationally appropriate mitigation actions. /
State of implementation/results
- A Planetary Health expert was hired to develop a study on climate services for health planning and decision making in the Philippines. Objectives of the study include an analysis of the polical and institutional landscape of climate services for health.
- The project is currently preparing the baseline and final survey of local government units (LGUs). The objective of the survey is to measure LGUs' satisfaction with access to and use of climate information and services.
