Strengthening National Climate Policy and Strategies for Adapting to Climate Change
As of: January 2021
The purpose of the project was to contribute to a coherent Malian environmental policy in the field of climate change adaptation. The measures planned operated at various levels: (i) introducing a 'climate proofing' instrument by which to integrate climate considerations into the investment programme for sustainable natural resource management, (ii) developing a procedure for the appropriate inclusion of climate considerations in strategic environmental assessments, (iii) developing and piloting innovative measures for climate change adaptation in the management of key natural resources (water, vegetation) for and with rural population groups, and (iv) boosting activities in Mali to raise public awareness of climate change.
