Thematic Trust Fund - Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net) phase II

As of: February 2021

The BES Net (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network) is a ‘network of networks’ that promotes dialogue and cooperation between science, policy and practice for the effective management of biodiversity and ecosystem services. During its second phase, the project supports evidence-based policy making, strategic planning and the implementation of transformative solutions in a total of 18 countries. It also enhances the BES network by supporting the identification and assessment of ecosystems in ‘National Ecosystem Assessments’ (NEAs) in four new countries and by facilitating triangular discussions between science, policy and practice in around 40 countries. Among other positive aspects, the activities and results of the project also contribute to the implementation of the work programme of the World Biodiversity Council (IPBES, Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) in the partner countries. The BES Net online platform provides information about experiences and successes.
