IKI Brown Bag Lunch: Empowering Youth – Maximizing Impact: Youth empowerment as a building block for effective climate and biodiversity action

Young people stand in front of a poster

At the IKI, we are convinced that climate and biodiversity action is more successful, sustainable, and equitable when young people are meaningfully involved and empowered. Young people’s ideas, skills and passion are crucial for addressing global challenges of today and tomorrow. Despite making up a significant part of the population in developing and emerging economies and being most affected by climate change, youth voices are often unheard and their transformational potential remains untapped. The IKI is committed to supporting youth engagement and empowerment. Our support includes training, awareness-raising, networking and participation in decision-making processes.

The event will showcase youth-inclusive and youth-led solutions of the IKI. Green Youth Labs of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is a training program focused on empowering young people in Viet Nam to drive innovation and contribute to a just energy transition. The NDC Support Programme and the overarching Climate Promise of UNDP promote meaningful youth engagement and empowerment, ensuring all voices are represented in countries’ efforts to enhance and implement their NDCs.

We invite you to join this Brown Bag Lunch, learn about our experiences and engage in a discussion about the importance and potential of youth support.
