Linking Carbon Markets and Climate Finance

As COP29 concluded with critical decisions on the Article 6 rulebook and a new climate finance goal, countries now have a unique opportunity to explore innovative solutions for scaling up climate action.
This Brown Bag Lunch presented key insights from the Climate Finance Innovators (CFI) project, supported by Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI), and discussed the following topics:
- How African countries are integrating carbon market mechanisms and climate finance instruments
- Practical case studies from Ethiopia, Uganda, and Senegal on using CDM methodologies for GCF projects
- The role of carbon finance in mobilizing resources and enhancing results-based climate action
- Lessons from capacity building and negotiation support to strengthen the implementation of Article 6
The Brown Bag Lunch was aimed at policymakers, carbon market and climate finance experts, project developers, and researchers.and anyone interested in the intersection of carbon markets and climate finance.
