Camera trap study in Skolivski Beskydy National Park in the Ukrainian Carpathians

The Carpathians are a stronghold for European mammals. These wild mountains and valleys hold some of the continent’s last primary forests and have been instrumental as source populations for the dispersal of wolves, Eurasian lynx, and brown bears into central and western Europe. Supported by the International Climate Initiative, FZS is working together with the protected areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians to better understand the importance of these primary forests as refuges for wildlife.
