Chile has plenty of renewable energy potential. But so far that potential remains untapped. With 13 major rivers, plenty of sun in the north of the country and more than 4,000 kilometers (2,485 miles) of breezy Pacific coast, the South American nation of Chile has plenty of renewable energy potential. But so far that potential remains untapped. Now the demand for energy in the country is changing all that. Four wind farms have already been built and another dozen are in the planning stages.
