Bioenergy in the Caribbean
As of: December 2019
Objective and activities
The project was exploring the extent to which biogas (biomethane) can be used instead of diesel to supply energy to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. A technical and financial plan of action for decentralised biogas production using small biogas facilities was drawn up. A Project Design Document (PDD) was also produced to open up a co-financing opportunity for the subsequent implementation of the plan of action as part of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Employees of the state-owned power company VINLEC and the Ministry of Agriculture also received training in biogas technology.
