Climate Cooperation with the National Institute on Climate Change Studies and Actions (NICCSA)
As of: April 2018
Objective and activities
The Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) requires enhanced capacities for the development of relevant expert knowledge in order to underpin their climate policy. In addition, coordination and exchange between different institutes in the field of Indian climate science need to be increased. Therefore, the Indian government decided to establish the National Institute for Climate Change Studies and Actions (NICCSA) subordinated to MoEFCC. The aim of this project is to support NICCSA in successfully fulfilling its role and functions. The project supports the establishment of NICCSA by capacity development measures, linkages to other national and international research institutes and the development of a knowledge platform available for the public. Policy making based on scientifically sound information will contribute to a more effective development and implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures and to enhanced planning security in economics and politics.
