Climate Cooperation with the National Institute on Climate Change Studies and Actions (NICCSA)
As of: August 2018
Objective and activities
The Indian Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) requires enhanced capacities for the development of relevant expert knowledge in order to underpin its climate policy. In addition, coordination and exchange between different institutes in the field of Indian climate science need to be increased. Therefore, the Indian government decided to establish the National Institute for Climate Change Studies and Actions (NICCSA). Once NICCSA will be formally established, the project supports the institute by capacity development measures, linkages to other national and international research institutes and the development of a knowledge platform available to the public. Policy-making based on scientifically sound information will contribute to a more effective development and implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures and to enhanced planning security in economics and politics.
