Climate Policy Programme Brazil (PoMuC)

As of: June 2018

Objective and activities

The “Climate Policy Programme“ supports the Brazilian government in the successful implementation of selected areas of the national climate policy. This includes several activities with the Ministry of the Environment for the implementation of the Brazilian NDC. As part of the implementation of the National Adaptation Plan, the programme provides advice for the creation of vulnerability maps. Institutional capacities of the National Climate Fund as well as in the field of climate finance are being strengthened. Together with the Ministry of Finance, regulatory impacts of a national, facility-specific greenhouse gas reporting system are assessed, serving as the basis for gathering information on emissions that are relevant to the design of economic instruments for the cost-efficient implementation of climate policy.

State of implementation/results

  • Support of an interministerial working group, which is preparing legislative proposals to reform the national climate fund (FC)
  • Supporting the preparation of the 1st Monitoring Report on Implementation of the NAP (National Adapation Plan)
