The project helped securing an environmentally sound energy supply and more efficient energy use in Turkey. With that in mind, KfW opened a long-term credit line worth EUR 36 million for Türkiye Sınai Kalkınma Bankası (TSKB), a Turkish bank working in the field of development and the environment. TSKB used the funds to provide long-term loans to private investors for energy efficiency measures and renewable energies. The credit line was accompanied by advisory services for TSKB employees to train them in evaluating investment projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies. Training was also provided on the ecological sustainability of small-scale hydropower plants, especially on the topic of ensuring passage for migratory fish in hydropower plants in Turkey.
