Establishing and Implementing an Innovation Platform for a German-Russian Modernisation Partnership with the Swerdlowsk region in the Russian Federation

Objective and activities

The primary aim of this project was to establish an innovation platform together with the Russian partners, and thus to facilitate German–Russian cooperation in Sverdlovsk in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies, waste management and water resource management. As the project has developed, the topics energy efficiency in buildings, biomass and energy efficiency in industrial and commercial enterprises came also in the focus.

  • Workshops carried out and networking among various German-Russian stakeholders in the area of energy efficiency/renewable energies fostered
  • Managers, engineers and technical experts from the regional distribution system operator in the Ural received training on grid extension and modernisation and contracting in Germany
