The project supplemented another project of the International Climate Initiative "Biodiversity Conservation through Preparatory Measures for Avoided Deforestation (REDD) in the Merang Peat Forest Area, South Sumatra" by adding information- and knowledge-management components.

  • Project is highly suitable as a pilot for other measures beyond country boundaries through information, communication and knowledge management activities; website:
  • www.merang-redd.org (external) set up as an information platform
  • Policy-related knowledge exchange through participation in all important national committees, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and meetings, as well as through relevant publications
  • Practical knowledge exchange and work relationships with other projects in the region in the areas of the environment, biodiversity and REDD+ strengthened
  • Scientific information exchange through cooperation with the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and universities.
