As of: August 2018

Objective and activities

INTERACT-Bio aims to work with sub-national governments to align their planning with the NBSAPs. The project will focus on mainstreaming biodiversity into land use planning and decision-making at the sub-national level, addressing Aichi Biodiversity Target 2. A target city-region or a city, depending on the context of each country, will be selected to adopt local biodiversity planning and implementation.

State of implementation/results

  • A “Training on the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” (TEEB) was held in Tanzania, 29.-30/08/2017, which aroused interest and which stakeholders perceived positively.
  • In Kochi, the project start is planned for October; high-level representatives of the government of Kerala and of the ministry for environment, forestry and climate are expected.
  • In Brazil, a public presentation of the selected metropolitan areas was organized during the „Brazilian Environmental Management Forum“.
