Support of Costa Rica's Zero-Emission Development Strategy as Model for Low Carbon Development

As of: August 2018

Objective and activities

The project strengthened Costa Rica's ability to implement strategies for extensive greenhouse gas mitigation and helped to integrate the experiences gained into regional and international strategy discussions on low-carbon development. To this end, the project established and expanded institutional structures and expertise, drafted nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) and conducted pilot measures in selected action areas and sectors. The project also involved monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, mitigation efforts and project impacts (MRV) as well as promoting expertise in these areas. Furthermore, the project supported the implementation of Costa Rica's national climate strategy through communication and information campaigns.
