Objective and activities

The project aims at fostering the use of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Tunisia, thereby contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and of fossil fuels. The large-scale development of renewable energies requires solid governing and steering competencies that the project is providing through various measures. The projects targets private energy users, companies and the public sector. Tools include training for skilled and executive personnel, as well as enhanced competencies for institutions and private companies implementing the solar plan. With these measures, the general conditions in the electricity sector is strengthened and competition fostered.

State of implementation/results

  • The project organised multiple workshops, together with Tunisian stakeholders, including topics like "energy scenarios", "validation of the national smart grid roadmap", "private sector engagement in RE projects" and "climate finance aspects for local financing institutions".
