World Bank Group’s Pollution Management and Environmental Health (PMEH) Multi-Donor Trust Fund

Objective and activities

The World Bank's Pollution Management and Environmental Health (PMEH) Program aims to reduce the impact of air, land and water pollution on human health and the environment in target countries and cities among low and middle income countries (LMICs). This application is to support: (a) PMEH Component 1: Air Quality Management (AQM), which is aimed at improving local environmental health conditions in cities with high air pollution; and (b) Building synergies between AQM and climate protection (e.g. integrated AQM and GHG mitigation plans that also include mitigation of climate change-related gasses, e.g. methane from solid waste sites). Besides providing core technical support from experienced industrialized countries on PMEH subjects through the program, a key focus will also be to meet a strong demand for South-South Cooperation (SSC) on AQM and climate change mitigation.
