By clicking on the video, you will change the context of this page.

In 2008, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) was launched based on a decision of the German Bundestag. The initiative seeks to foster climate protection and measures for adapting to climate change in collaboration with developing and emerging countries, as well as to sustainably manage forests and enhance forest carbon stocks (REDD+) and to preserve biodiversity. From 2008 to the end of 2017, BMU contributed a total funding volume of around 2.7 billion euros.

Ten years after its foundation, the IKI remains in a state of flux in order to react to the changing political, societal and ecologic framework conditions in order to be able to make an even better contribution to climate protection, adaptation to climate change, forest as well as biodiversity conservation worldwide in the future.
