(Spanisch with English subtitles)

The ecosystems of the regions Atlantic Forest, Pantanal and Chaco are threatened by increasing land conversion, especially the conversion of forest due to growing soy production and livestock breeding. The ParLU-project (Paraguay Land Use) is using innovative approaches for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) to develop models for payments for environmental services (PES). This is creating new income opportunities for local people, while at the same time conserving intact areas of the rainforest.
