New online portal for the LifeWeb Initiative now accepting expressions of interest

Expanding marine protected areas in the Pacific, training rangers in Belize and managing mangrove forests in Costa Rica - these are just some of the project proposals on the LifeWeb Initiative website looking for financing. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has now launched its new online portal for the Initiative. Countries wishing to expand and secure their national protected area systems can publish their proposals and look for sources of funding at lifeweb.cbd.int (external).

The LifeWeb Initiative builds upon the wide-reaching resolutions for the global conservation of biodiversity passed at the CBD Conference 2012 in Hyderabad, India. CBD Parties are encouraged to align their expressions of interest for funding with their national biodiversity plans and thus with the corresponding Aichi Targets of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020.

You can find further information on the Initiative and a submission template for Expressions of Interest on the LifeWeb website.
