The 4th United Nations Assembly (UNEA-4) will take place from 11 - 15 March 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya. State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, will be leading the German delegation.

The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the main decision-making body of the UN Environment . The UN Environment is the only environmental agency and includes all UN Member States. According to its mandate, it holds the leading role in global environmental protection. It coordinates United Nations environmental activities, provides comprehensive reports on the global status of the environment, develops policy and legal tools for international environmental protection and provides advice to interested countries.

UNEA is the world's highest-level decision-making body on the environment. It addresses the critical environmental challenges facing the world today. The Environment Assembly meets biennially to set priorities for global environmental policies and develop international environmental law. Through its resolutions and calls to action, the Assembly provides leadership and catalyses intergovernmental action on the environment. UNEA provides an opportunity for all peoples to help design solutions for our planet's health.

In line with this years' theme 'Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) will take the opportunity to highlight on some of their projects.
