Future of the Carbon Market Foundation - call for proposals

Applicants have until 15 April 2014 to submit new proposals to the Future of the Carbon Market Foundation for programmes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries and emerging economies. The programmes should adopt a comprehensive approach and be able to generate emissions certificates. Selected programmes will receive start-up funding that can be used to meet the high starting costs often faced by such programmes. The Foundation, which is being run by KfW Development Bank, aims to demonstrate that climate change mitigation projects are feasible and economical in order to create incentives for private investors.

Programmes of activities (POAs) are one focus of the Foundation's support. Within the context of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), these programmes can be comprised of a number of individual climate change mitigation activities. The Foundation is, however, also supporting comparable programmatic mechanisms beyond the framework of the CDM as long as these meet certain criteria.

Additional information on the criteria and the selection of programmes can be found here:

Through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) is contributing funding to the foundation's endowment.
