Jordan Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Initiative - Investment Component

The Government of Jordan integrated energy efficiency (EE) as one of the key central components in its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to mitigate climate change. In this project, the European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide long-term funding to financial institutions, such as banks, that are committed to supporting eligible local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These companies in turn invest in RE measures to reduce their GHG emissions and energy costs. The IKI will support this by contributing to an innovative EIB Risk Sharing Facility (RSF), i.e. supporting the EIB in matching investment funds and hedging risks. Such a mechanism will allow the EIB to obtain credit risk protection for investments in energy efficiency measures.
