Programme to Improve Energy Efficiency in Mountain Villages in Central Asia

The project aimed to enable village populations in several Central Asian countries to use energy-efficient technologies and to improve their access to renewable energies. To achieve this objective, the project established energy committees in the villages and trained their members in energy-related topics, project development and the use of awareness-raising mechanisms. The project also organised round table discussions and film screenings on energy efficiency and building renovation in order to help disseminate the knowledge across the region. The villagers received practical training on the insulation of buildings and the construction of efficient stoves. In addition, microloans were made available for the acquisition of energy-efficient equipment.
