Green Guarantee Company (GGC)

By supporting the Green Guarantee Company (GGC), the IKI is helping to mobilize private capital to close the financing gap in the area of climate protection in emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs). With the help of green credit guarantees, the GGC aims to increase the willingness of private investors to invest in commercial projects that contribute to greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation to the consequences of climate change. Green guarantees provide targeted support to end borrowers in implementing economically viable climate protection and adaptation projects to meet the growing energy demand in the emerging and developing countries of Latin America, Africa, and Asia without increasing greenhouse gas emissions in the target region.
