Low Carbon Economic Zones

The aim of the project was to develop a concept for establishing Low Carbon Zones through public-private partnerships. It focused on the exchange of expertise and the upscaling of investment in energy efficiency, renewable energies and sustainable transportation systems. This involved developing master plans that set out methodologies and parameters for low carbon growth. The project addressed provincial-level investors and stakeholders in Beijing as well as government officials and business leaders from Europe. The master plans reflected both China’s regional diversity and the common basis for cooperation between the EU and China.
