High-level round-table on Mutirao for climate, cities and nature as part of ministerial agenda for urbanisation
The COP30 Belém High-Level Roundtable: Mutirão for Cities, Nature and Climate, held on 11 November 2025, will bring together ministers, city leaders, and international partners to discuss the intersection of urbanization, biodiversity, and climate action.
Hosted by UNEP, the roundtable marks a key milestone in shaping the integration of these agendas and informing COP30 negotiations. It also reflects the unique context of Belém and the Brazilian Amazon, emphasizing how the region’s protection and restoration are fundamental to sustainable urbanization and planetary health.
During the event, participants will highlight the vital role of nature in building urban resilience, with the launch of the initiative “Climate Adaptation in Cities: Water-Sensitive Urban Planning in Brazil”, supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German government and the Brazilian Ministry of Cities.
Confirmed participants include representatives from BMUKN (Germany) and the Ministry of Cities of Brazil, underscoring the strong bilateral commitment to advancing resilient and inclusive urban futures.
