Peace and Security in a Changing Climate: From Analysis to Action

The Climate Security Mechanism (CSM) at the United Nations together with the Group of Friends on Climate and Security are convening an official UNFCCC COP29 Azerbaijan side event titled "Peace and Security in a Changing Climate: From Analysis to Action" on COP29 Peace, Relief and Recovery day - Friday 15 November 2024 (13:15-14:45 AZT, Side Event Room 3, Blue Zone, COP29, Baku). A video recording will be made available.

In line with the COP28 Declaration on Climate, Relief, Recovery and Peace, this high-level panel will showcase practical experiences in analyzing and addressing climate, peace and security linkages in climate-vulnerable contexts and opportunities for peace-positive climate action.

Speakers will highlight how they have addressed related risks, thus strengthening the sustainability and peace dividends of climate initiatives. The diverse panel will include perspectives from youth activists, government representatives, and UN actors.

The event will culminate in a dedicated commitments segment, where participants will be invited to make pledges including to support and partner with the CSM.
