Medium Grants 2025

Status of the procedure

The deadline for submitting project outlines for the IMG ideas competition 2025 was 20 January 2026 at 11:59 (CET).

Submissions and participation

A total of 296 project outlines were submitted. Of these, 143 outlines were submitted under Thematic Priority I and 153 under Thematic Priority II.

The response shows the international relevance of the competition: 211 implementing organisations from 84 different countries submitted their ideas.

Next steps in the selection process

All project outlines submitted are currently undergoing formal evaluation. Project outlines that meet the minimum requirements of the call will then be subject to a technical evaluation of their concept.

This review process is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of this year. The final selection of the most promising project outlines will be made by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).

Up to twelve projects will be funded for a total amount of up to €8 million. The selected projects are expected to start in the first quarter of 2027 at the earliest.

We thank all participants for their commitment and contribution to a sustainable future!
