IKI Gender Community of Practice: Nexus Gender & Youth

The IKI Gender Community of Practice (IKI GCoP) is a format designed to support implementing organisations and enhance knowledge exchange and lessons learned regarding their experiences in implementing the IKI gender strategy and promoting gender justice within their projects. The IKI GCoP is a regular and interactive event open for all IKI implementing organisations, co-hosted by the IKI Office and IKI implementers.

At our next GenderCoP, we turn our attention to the intersection of gender and youth. While women and young people often face specific challenges, they are also important agents of change. Therefore, addressing gender and youth together plays a crucial role in achieving effective and inclusive climate action. By combining gender-responsive and youth-focused approaches, the following two projects work to overcome barriers and promote sustainable, equitable solutions:

• Partnership for deforestation-free Cocoa Supply Chains, carried out by Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International e.V., strengthens the capacities of women and youth in climate-friendly agriculture.
• YouthEnergy, carried out by Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy GmbH - Germany,  empowers young people in Argentina to drive a just energy transition, using a gender-responsive approach.

Each project will share their lessons learned, success stories and maybe challenges and explain how their work addresses the nexus of gender and youth. Join us for an interesting exchange and the chance to explore how gender and youth initiatives can create lasting impact.

• Session B: Thursday 2 October 2025 | 08:30–10:30 CEST (registration closes on 1 October 11:00 CEST)
