IKI high-level event at COP26
At COP 26, the IKI brought together representatives from the NDC Partnership, country representatives from Gambia and Colombia as well as other supporting partners from Germany and France to a high level event.
On 9 November, the International Climate Initiative (IKI) brought together representatives from the NDC Partnership, country representatives from Gambia and Colombia as well as other supporting partners from Germany and France to a high level event titled: The alignment of NDC and Long-Term targets to reach net-zero targets.
During the event, the speakers shared on their experience and perspectives on the alignment of long term strategies (LTS) and NDCs, highlighting the need for the international community to consolidate all efforts towards enhanced international climate policy. As part of the discussion, Prof. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director of the German Development Insitute, also presented on the recently published report Beyond Climate Neutrality by the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU).
The high-level event took place at the margins of the UNFCCC COP26, at the German Pavilion in Glasgow and was hosted by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear safety (BMU). Participants included representatives from partner ministries of natural resources and non-governmental organisations present at the COP26 – but also who were able to join in remotely on the hybrid event.
