Focus on Micronesia: Pakin Piggery
Pakin is an atoll island located about 30 miles northwest of Micronesia´s capitol Pohnpei. It is surrounded entirely by coral reefs. Because of its remoteness self-reliance is particularly important. People on Pakin raise pigs, who play an important cultural role. But roaming freely they are the cause of destruction of crops and a big problem for the farmers on the island.
