Accelerated Partnership for Renewables in Africa (APRA) Champions Programme (ACP)

Sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing disproportionate climate change impacts. In order to participate equitably in the global energy transition to renewables, Africa needs access to affordable financing and investment security to meet its rapidly increasing energy demand. Ultimately, sustainable development hinges on balancing energy security, affordability and environmental responsibility with inclusive economic growth that responds to the needs of women and youth. The project supports the emergence of energy transition in its partner countries to become leaders on the continent. The project focuses on overcoming key regulatory, financial, technical bottlenecks to unlock each champion’s full renewable energy potential. The project further strengthens regional networks and institutions to replicate successes across the continent.
