Balkan Energy Efficiency Initiative for SME and Housing Space Modernisation

The project is introducing a new credit product for energy efficiency in the banking sectors of Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina. The aim is to achieve energy savings of approximately 20% for each investment. Selected local partner banks will be provided with credit lines for energy efficiency. The loans extended by the banks focus on comparatively simple and cost-effective energy efficiency measures.

State of implementation/results

Project completed

  • Long-term credit lines for energy efficiency measures were offered by KfW to local partner banks.
  • Financing for energy efficiency measures was offered to companies and private households by local banks.
  • In Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia more than 600 clients received financing for energy efficiency measures, particularly in the areas transport, production plants, and building insulation.
  • Accompanying consulting activities for partner banks were completed successfully.
