Climate Action Tracker

National contributions to the Paris Agreement are overall insufficient. Since 2009, this independent scientific project has been analysing climate protection measures taken by governments and measures them against the globally agreed goal of the Paris Agreement ‘to keep warming well below 2°C and to strive to limit warming to 1.5°C’. It quantifies and evaluates targets, strategies and measures to mitigate climate change. It covers all major emitters and a representative selection of smaller emitters, which together account for around 85% of global emissions and around 70% of the world's population. In addition, the measures taken by individual countries are aggregated at a global level and the expected temperature rise over the course of the 21st century is determined. The project also develops sectoral analyses to identify the necessary pathways to meet global temperature targets.
