Developing a Climate Adaptation Strategy for the Metropolitan Region of Santiago and a Regional Learning Network for Latin American Megacities

The project was developing adaptation measures for the metropolitan region of Santiago de Chile in the key areas of energy, water and land use. As a first step, the project partners assessed the most significant climatic changes taking place in the region, along with the effects of these changes. As part of an ongoing participatory process (roundtable on adaptation to climate change), representatives of relevant regional and national administrations were developing adaptation measures, evaluating and prioritising these measures, and planning their implementation. Moreover, the project was promoting cooperation with decision makers from other megacities in Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico in order to coordinate the activities in a regional learning network.
