Energy Strategies of Kazakhstan – chances for an energy efficient development path

Kazakhstan has great potential for implementing climate protection measures, especially by increasing energy efficiency and providing renewable energy. The German Energy Agency was supported in this project to prepare and hold an international conference in Kazakhstan in September 2008. The conference dealt with questions concerning the development of energy consumption in Kazakhstan and the future energy supply structures in the country. One focus has been the future transformation of the power sector.
