NDC Transport Initiative for Asia - Phase 2
Freight transport in Asia is growing rapidly and causing increasing emissions. This sector is often insufficiently considered in climate plans. Clear political guidance, sufficient funding, and appropriate frameworks for clean commercial vehicles and charging infrastructure are lacking. In China, India, and Vietnam, road freight accounts for a large share of transport activity. The project promotes coordinated policy measures to electrify freight transport and commercial vehicles in these three countries. Ministries, civil society, and the private sector develop effective approaches together and contribute to achieving climate goals. The project supports these processes through facilitation, technical advice, and implementation at the regional level. Beyond the region, the project strengthens exchange between countries, deepens understanding of renewable energy in transport, and engages in international processes on transport transformation.
