Project assessment for the exchange of know-how on climate change and water management in Ethiopia
The project focus was on the education and training of staff in the Ethiopian ministries, regional and local administrations responsible for water management (water supply and wastewater treatment) and agricultural irrigation. The consideration of climate change impacts on the water balance in the management of water resources in semi-arid areas was an important aspect. A major thematic focus was on imparting knowledge about appropriate technologies and their use. In addition to the education and training components, the project also included an investment component in the sense of pilot or demonstration plants. Attention was paid to a sensible linking of both components with the aim of achieving the strongest possible multiplier effect with regard to the technologies used.
