Promoting use of composting and building a composting plant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

In Togo, almost all household waste has so far been dumped more or less in the wild. This results in high greenhouse gas emissions emissions, as the organic portion of the waste generates high methane emissions during land filling. To reduce these emissions, the project promotes the use of composting in Togo and build a composting plant for this purpose. Various capacity building measures are also to be implemented, both for the municipalities, which have been responsible for waste management since 2019, as well as for farmers, who can use the compost as fertiliser.
